John Burrus was a founding partner and is now of counsel to the firm.
Mr. Burrus has represented banks and other financial institutions in a broad range of matters since the early 1980s. His practice in this area has included holding company and change of control applications, loan documentation, regulatory and consumer compliance advice, loan workouts, foreclosures, and the sale, acquisition and merger of banks and bank holding companies.
Mr. Burrus has represented banks and bank directors in cease and desist matters, civil money penalty proceedings, and other regulatory proceedings before federal and state agencies. Through the firm’s “Hotline” service, he provides daily legal advice to members of the Independent Bankers of Colorado (IBC). He also provides legislative counsel, review, drafting and other support to the IBC in connection with state legislation of interest and concern to community banks.
In addition, Mr. Burrus practices in the areas of general business representation and commercial transactions. He has represented corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and other businesses in such areas as organization, financing, leasing, franchising, sales, and stock and asset sales and purchases. He has broad real estate experience, including commercial and residential leasing, sales and purchases, title work, and subdivision and condominium organization and development.
Mr. Burrus is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, College of Law. He also received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma.
