Otteson Shapiro Partner John Podvin presented at a panel discussion June 4 as part of an InfraGard webinar focusing on criminal threat training. 

The Financial Services Sector virtual breakout panel discussion looked at the future of cryptocurrency and associated risks, regulatory issues from recent advanced persistent threat (APT) events, and the shifting of attack channels. The discussion was presented by the InfraGard Denver Members Alliance (IDMA).

InfraGard (https://www.infragard.org/) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and members of the private sector for the protection of U.S. Critical Infrastructure. Through seamless collaboration, InfraGard connects owners and operators within critical infrastructure to the FBI, to provide education, information sharing, networking, and workshops on emerging technologies and threats.

In addition to presenting on Cybercrime, Mr. Podvin also virtually attended “Drug Trafficking and Cyber Crimes: Criminal Enterprises Do It All,” an InfraGard Members Alliance (IMA) webinar.  The webinar brought together some top experts to present on and demonstrate the broad range of threats orchestrated by criminal enterprises in 2021. Attendees were familiarized with the cyber-criminal threat intelligence, including active groups, as well as threats facing companies and organizations along with Western Hemisphere Transnational Organized Crime threats, a top FBI priority in Colorado and Wyoming.
