Otteson Shapiro announced that Partner Kurt Leeper has received CIPP/US (Certified Information Privacy Professional / United States) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Mr. Leeper’s practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions and he is a member of the firm’s Banking, Lending & Financial Institutions Practice Group.

CIPP certification is the gold standard for privacy professionals and the CIPP/US certification is a key industry benchmark.  A CIPP certification demonstrates a foundational understanding of the privacy laws, regulations, and enforcement in a given region. CIPP/US certified individuals are conversant with US laws and regulations affecting privacy in several industries including finance, healthcare, education, and telecommunications.

IAPP is a non-profit that helps define, promote, and improve the privacy profession globally. There are currently four active CIPP concentrations including one for the United States (CIPP/US), Asia (CIPP/A), Canada (CIPP/C), and Europe (CIPP/E).
