Kurt Leeper is a partner with Otteson Shapiro in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Leeper’s practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions, with his principal areas of practice including corporate and securities matters, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance. His practice is grounded in an underlying philosophy of not only delivering timely, informed and appropriate legal advice to clients but also in understanding the environment and industry in which his clients operate. This enables him to provide effective, practical counsel.

Mr. Leeper routinely advises clients on matters such as public and private equity and debt offerings; corporate governance matters; compliance with the rules and regulations of federal and state financial and securities regulators; and acquisitions and dispositions of businesses and assets.

Mr. Leeper began his career in 2005 with Baker Hostetler LLP in its Cleveland, Ohio office. During his time at the firm, he represented a diverse array of clients on a broad variety of matters including corporate transactions ranging from millions of dollars to over one billion dollars, securities law compliance and numerous other transactions and financings both large and small.

Mr. Leeper also worked extensively on numerous matters in the representation of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation in its recovery efforts with respect to the collapse of Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.

He holds certifications as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) for both the United States (CIPP/US) and Europe (CIPP/E), which validates a strong foundation in both European and American privacy laws and regulations and an understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to and from the US, the EU, and other jurisdictions. The CIPP is the global industry standard for professionals in the field of privacy.

Prior to his admission to the bar, Mr. Leeper served as a broker relationship manager and Series 7 and 63 financial advisor in New York City from 1999 through 2002.
