Shapiro Bieging Barber Otteson LLP (SBBO) announced today that attorney Garth Gersten has been admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel (ACCC), the preeminent association representing the interests of insurers and policyholders in disputes arising from insurance policies.

Individuals admitted as Fellows of the ACCC are recognized for their skill, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of insurance coverage and extra contractual law, and are dedicated to excellence in this area of practice.

“The ACCC is delighted to welcome Mr. Gersten as the latest member to become actively involved in its work,” said Michael Aylward, president of ACCC.

Mr. Gersten is only the third Colorado attorney to be recognized in this manner by the ACCC.

Mr. Gersten represents and advises policyholders in their disputes with insurers. He has consistently been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© for his work in insurance law 2007-2021. He was instrumental in the formation of the Insurance Committee of the Colorado Bar Association in February, 2020 and he currently serves as secretary of the committee.

The ACCC is an invitation-only organization of senior lawyers who have devoted their practice to insurance disputes. The ACCC’s Fellows include many prominent members of the insurance law bars of the United States and Canada, as well as Honorary Fellows from academia and the judiciary.  The ACCC focuses on educating all sectors involved in the field of insurance law – including the judiciary, legal and insurance professionals, law students and businesses.

Established in 2012, the ACCC is the preeminent association of U.S. and Canadian lawyers who represent the interests of insurers and policyholders. The ACCC’s mission is to advance the creative, ethical, and efficient adjudication of insurance coverage and extra contractual disputes; to enhance the civility and quality of the practice of insurance law; to provide peer-reviewed scholarship, and to improve the relationship between and among the members of its profession.
