Otteson Shapiro partner John Podvin has been named the 2027 Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” for Financial Services Regulation Law in Dallas/Fort Worth. He also received the designation in 2014, 2019, 2023 and 2025.

The award is presented to the attorney who receives the highest overall peer feedback in a particular practice area and metropolitan region. Only one attorney is recognized in each specialty and market per edition, making John’s five-time selection particularly notable.

John is one of three Otteson Shapiro attorneys to have earned the distinction. Christian Otteson was named the 2026 “Lawyer of the Year” for Banking and Finance Law in Denver. Thomas Bieging has received “Lawyer of the Year” honors for Banking and Finance Law and Financial Services Regulation Law in Denver, including recognition in both practice areas in 2016.
